"Week 8: Beauty"

What is beauty? Beauty is subjective by default; it ranges from written to living things; many things can be considered beautiful. However, I was struggling, sitting at my computer unsure as to what I found beautiful in a traditional sense. So I settled on drawing things that I find beautiful, even if they may be considered "ugly" to some. Most of the drawings ended up being landscapes or objects.

Entries One And Two

For the first two entries, I wanted to focus on landscapes; as they are often perceived as beautiful by most. However, I wanted to put a twist on it, drawing them in a more ruined or "deathly" state. As although they may be uncanny or feel uneasy to some, I feel as if they're beautiful in their own way.

Entries Three And Four

For the third and fourth entries, I wanted to experiment with more "traditional" ideas of beauty, such as candlelight. I always found it enchanting, even though it is such a simple source. To contrast the "candlelight" I decided to also draw smoke; something that's connected but almost completely different.

Entries Five And Six

For entries Five and Six I wanted to do something more symbolic and something more in my style; I wound up using contrasting 'colours' to show how beauty may effect different people, for others it may cause stress, and for others, they may not feel it's effects. It has, and always will be subjective.
