For week 7's visual diary prompt I wanted to explore what nature is, and how it's often used as assets in video games. I focused on one object or "asset" for each day.
To challenge myself I used MS paint(a very basic drawing program on Windows that comes preinstalled) as well as working with 64pixels by 64pixels; common dimensions used when creating assets for pixel games.
Through the process of taking week 7's prompt in a more literal sense, it helped me develop my skills with shading and my understanding of said objects in a 3D space.
The first two entries of week 7 were mainly studies; I don't often draw actual objects or assets, so I felt as if a small study crossing over two days would be the best thing to do. I also wanted to experiment with different types of shading.
With entries 3 and 4 I wanted to get a bit more experimental; I decided to draw a fox/canine skull as that’s some of the most common wildlife in Brighton; it also gave me the chance to draw something from "memory" to see how it compared to something I drew from real life such as the chimney, which is one I can see from my bedroom window.
For entries 5 and 6 I decided to draw from references; focusing on the basic shapes and colours once again. I also experimented with blocking out the objects in greyscale, then going in and adding in the right colours once I was happy with the outcome.
